03 August 03 We purchased our range/stove, washer and dryer today from Warners' Stellian. That takes care of all the appliances!

22 July 03 They've blacktopped our driveway! Woohoo! Also, the sidewalk running between our house and the one to the left has been put in. It will lead back to a path to the park.
 
17 July 03 Carpet! All over the house! We got to roll around and squoosh our toes in it.
 
15 July 03 Most of the light fixtures are hanging up now, and all the recessed lights in the kitchen are in. They even work! The mixed-up vinyl in the bathrooms has been fixed, and the toilets installed. The doorbell is up, but it doesn't ring yet, and the microwave has been installed.

12 July 03 We have beautiful light grey-blue countertops! They look great. Also installed in the kitchen is the dishwasher, and the microwave is sitting on the floor all ready to be installed. They have also put the wire shelving up in all the closets. The bathroom floors weren't fixed, but we're not panicking quite yet.
 
8 July 03 Inside, the flooring in the kitchen and foyer has been laid. They also put in the flooring in the two bathrooms upstairs, but they mixed them up! We reported the error and it should be redone by the end of the week.
 
3 July 03 The trim is finished, and they have installed the cultured marble countertops in both upstairs bathrooms. Two trees that were planted and whose location we disliked were moved at our request. Unfortunately, they've now died. Oops!
 
1 July 03 We have lovely green faux shutters outside. Nearly the entire interior is trimmed: baseboards, stairway railings, window trim and, most exciting of all, KITCHEN CUPBOARDS!!! They look awesome. The bathroom cabinets are also in.
 
26 June 03 Paint! The first coat of paint (it could be primer) is on all the walls. The exterior siding is nearly complete.
 
24 June 03 We have a garage door! They have also finished all the ceilings with that white bumpy stuff (what's it called?).
 
17 June 03 Nearly all of the interior is sheetrocked, and they've also begun putting the siding on the exterior.
 
14 June 03 With Dad's help, we went down to the house this morning and insulated the two garage walls we opted not to have Rottlund do. It should be toasty!
 
12 June 03 Attended our pre-sheetrocking meeting. This was the stage at which we did a walkthrough to make sure all the outlets and things were in the correct locations before they put in insulation and smacked up the sheetrock. We also got confirmation that WE WILL CLOSE ON AUGUST 12!!!
 
10 June 03 They've started putting in all of the electrical wiring. We also have bathtubs in place!

22 May 03 The second floor has a partial roof. It's been rainy of late, so the whole house was drippy and puddly when we looked.

08 May 03 The concrete walls for the basement look great! They now have outer insulation, too.

01 May 03 They have started! So far they have already dug a big hole and begun the concrete footings. We'll have to stop in a few times each week to keep up with the progress.
 
24 April 03 We had our pre-construction meeting and learned that they are going to dig next Wednesday (the 30th)! It's starting!
 
29 March 03 We had our first meeting: "Plans and Specs." We had to finalize all of our options for the interior and exterior, and any changes we make after today incur a processing fee. We also chose the locations for all of our electrical, telephone and cable outlets. But by far the biggest change we made today was to add a front porch!!
 
28 March 03 Visited STS Flooring in Plymouth to choose our carpeting, hard flooring and countertops.
 
19 March 03 Visited Jeff and US Bank and signed some more Important Papers (mortgage application).
 
16 March 03 We've crossed the Rubicon and signed the purchase agreement. There's no turning back now!
 
14 March 03 After having looked around at other homes for sale in the area and comparing features, space, price, etc., we've decided to take the plunge and go for the Rottlund Revere. Jonas visited the office and made an initial deposit for a lot.
 
06 March 03 Eva (the realtor/sales representative) gave us a tour of a soon-to-be bought Revere model, nearly identical to what ours would look like if we chose it. We are in love! It's a fantastic layout.
 
05 March 03 Jonas heard back from the bank and we have been pre-approved! Julia nearly fell out of her chair and couldn't stop shaking! Someone is going to trust us with a lot of money?
 
04 March 03 Jonas took Julia to see the model he'd liked the day before. WOW!
 
03 March 03 While out browsing the neighborhood in Chaska, Jonas stopped by another developer company (Rottlund Homes) to see what they had to offer and was much more impressed with the style and space (and a somewhat bigger, although not altogether large, lot).
 
01 March 03 To get house ideas we decided to go visit some Parade of Homes, and stopped by one in a cute Chaska neighborhood. The house was pretty nice, but the lots were *extremely* tiny, having no yard at all to speak of. We really liked the neighborhood, but wondered about raising kids in a house with no yard.
