Omaha Trip
January 6-9, 2005

In early January 2005 we decided to take a small road trip to Omaha, Nebraska to do some out-of-state geocaching. We left immediately after work on a Thursday evening and drove to Ames, Iowa. We made it to Omaha Friday evening, geocaching the whole way there. Saturday we spent caching around the Omaha area, and then Sunday we made the 6-hour drive back home.

It was probably not the best time to go as that area had just received a generous dumping of snow, but it was all part of the adventure! While on the trip we found our milestone 200th cache.

01-07-05: It's hard to tell, but there is a very large, old tree in the middle of the road. It was planted accidentally by a surveyor as he established the county line. To mark the line, he cut a branch from a nearby cottonwood tree. It sprouted and grew! (GCHJHQ)

01-08-05: For our 200th overall find, we chose the webcam cache UNO Campus Cam. We were to find the webcam on campus and capture a picture of ourselves in it as proof that we visited. It's dark out in this picture and the quality is poor, but you can see the lights shining from the headlamps we are wearing! We're in the middle-left of the picture.
